I have the same issue on Windows 8.1, Intel i7 and screen resolution at 1920x1080. Happens on every other screen resolution, and tryinbg all the compatibility modes on Windows do not fix it.
Sombody else, at least (username greenfuse) posted a similar bug report.

Hi,
First, thanks for adding the Matrix-12 to the release.
The display issue I'm seeing is the main pane where all the widgets live is offset to the right by the width of the Setup menu button. Basically there is a black vertical rectangle the with of the setup menu button between the frame of the window and the main pane. The Sound button is under the About menu button.
