Well, to be honest, I don't like the look and organization of the site (did it too fast   ). I'm then working on a new one that will be clearer  :)

As for the charts, whatever idea on how it could be managed is welcome  :!:

See you there

Hey !

Nice idea, I'm curious to see what your page will
look like and above all what the content will be.

You already wrote some kinda list about topics,
sound pretty good !!

So keep it growing up !!

Best regards,

Sven Basskilla

btw, you where talking about the "charts"; what is
that about ? The "Top 10 Storm Songs" ?
Would be pretty cool !  8)

When I release sound examples on webpages,
I create a flash file from it; makes download faster
for people with slower connections and everyone can
hear your sound without spreading it directly into kazaa
or similar..  what do you think about it ?

Hi Sven,

Thanks for your support and concern  :D
I'm actually re-designing the site for it to be ready for much future stuff.
I've just checked your website, I have to listen to your music snippets now
As for the "charts" I'm talking about, that's it, you got the point. I'd like this place to be not a kinda competitive thing but just a means for every stormer to get his songs reviewed. When I say the word "songs", it's about STM files only, no mp3's or real audio files. Though, as there will be a page devoted to every stormer, each of us will be free to give links to his own audio stuff.
I really want this site to be Arturia related : Storm, MiiniMgV, ... Why ? I do appreciate the work of this French company and its developers (I  met some of them in 2000) are real cool guys ! Besides, they're musicians and their challenge to release "old" analog synth emulations in the music software jungle does prove it all the more as these vsti's are more than amazing !!!
Let's support them, they deserve it  :D

Well, tomorrow, the site will be online. Then, it will have to be completed. I just hope that many people will participate by writing articles, sending files, etc ... I don't want it to be "my" site but that of Stormers all over the world  :D. In the same category, Propellerhead Reason, Orion, IL FL studio
have their own community, why not Storm ?

See you
d(*O*)b

Hi !

Now, that really sounds good !!!   8)

I'm really looking forward to visit your
new page !!
Oh, and by the way, thanks for your interest
in my site; on www.basskilla.com you'll
find ( or already have found.. ) the litte
scratch video only; the music snippets have
been on www.basskilla-records.com together
with a few audio files from my friends, but
this page is "under construction" because of
a redesign as well as your storm -page

But if you like, I can sent you a link to an example
of my "flash-snippets" ... !

When I got some more time in future
I'll hurry to finish the redesign...

But back to your site; so you want to share
the .stm files, right ? Hmm, do you have
enough webspace to provide "lots" of songs?
Otherwise you could do like this:
Everyone could upload his files to his own
webspace ( if available of course ) and send
you the link to his files; but you also could
provide a php/sql formular thing, so do
don't have to include those links all by yourself.

If you want me to, I should have a very
basic version of a php/sql formular on
one of my computers that I wrote a few
month ago( only gotta find ) and could
send it to you.

It's really VERY basic, but works similar
to a contact form : a few text fields,
one is related to linkable feature, means
it will automatically become a link if filled.

You also can have radio buttons or pulldown
for category selection as well; might be a little
work to fit it to your needs but maybe not
the worst option !!

Just tell me about and I'll start so look for it....

Best regards, keep it going on !!

Good evening Sven,

At the moment, I have 450 Mb space for uploading and will increase it if necessary. But of course, anyone can give me a link to his files, it's all the same, just that they'll have to be STM's :P I want this site to be storm related ! I could have made some pages about my own project (Raw emotions sound) but oups, I wouldn't have known what to say     Now I hope there will be a cool little community around Storm cause so far, there has been none actually :( The Arturia team is not to blame, it's a young company, they now have 4 products to manage and they're only 10 people (5 of whom are programmers), then it's easy to guess that it must be sometimes hectic. I mean that, for instance, updating the gallery isn't a priority.
Damn, the webdesign thing is a hell   I couldn't figure out it would take so much time. Of course, I'm interested in your php editor, I need to dig those languages a bit further   My goal today was to make something more decent and ready for work. I'll try to improve things one by one from now on  :) I have tried a demo of Dreamweaver, well it rocks but the price kills
That's done now, the new pages are uploaded (but not the french version yet). It's about time to complete them

Have a good evening !
Cheers,
Didz

In a very close future, I will :
* install the French pages
* upload an uncompleted STM. Then, you will have to tweak it as you
   will
* complete the Storm page with my review and a short Storm history (from 2000 until now) based on screenshots. Hey, do you still remember what Storm 1.0/1.1 looked like ? :P
* Speak of myself in the Stormers' page. No, no, don't laugh out loud, it will be very interesting
* upload a bank of samples made through a Novation KS-Rack

As for the knowledge page, what about some stuff on what a scale is and how to build diatonic and inflected chords from it ?

See you hopefully !

Hey Didz !!

I just checked your page,
nice work so far, like it !!!

Can you use php and cgi scripts
on your webspace without limitation ?

I could tell you about a real good newsletter
script made in PHP for example; that way
your visitors don't have to mess around
with yahoo registration if they aren't yahoo
service users already.

It's REALLY a cool one... and free !
( so don't hesitate to ask for if you'd
like to; only thing, it's in german, but
I can help if anything isn't clear..)

Yeah, Dreamweaver really rocks the
webdesigners house !! But expensive, right.

I own an education version of it, so it's
quite a bit cheaper...  but its worth each
euro, indeed !!
Fast and clear coding of web ideas, what else ?!

Hey, I really like your collabo idea, already
like to load a file of your draw into my studio..

Oh, maybe you should get rid of the spaces
in your htm names as it may cause problems
with a few versions of web browsers..
That's because they gotta translate the name
into "full" names like that one:

http://www.storm4all.com/Who%20are%20the%20Stormers.html

To be sure everything works right, rename those files to
whoarethestormers.html or maybe who_are_the_stormers.html  .

When I found my PHP-based link script I'll let you know;
but as I said, gotta look for it first... It's been a long time..

Ok, so far; gotta go to bed now, have lots of work
to do tomorow..

Have a good night and keep it going, I think
it's gonna be great !!

Best regards,

Sven Basskilla

I'm sure for PHP scripts but I must check the ftp to see if it's ok for cgi's. I haven't read all the recommendations yet

Sounds interesting but is it just a newsletter ? Does it act like a mailinglist ? For sure, the Yahoo thingie is rather boring for those who haven't signed up yet   I should think of something else maybe. There's an internet provider here in France which allows one to insert a mailinglist in a webpage, I must check it further.

Yep, that looks really great, it must be the top for webdesigning nowadays ... Though, it's a bit hard to me, I'm just a beginner in the webdesign stuff. So far, I've used a shareware from Virtual Mechanics. It's not really coding orientated and of course you reach its limits after a while. I've just downloaded a demo of Coffee Cup editor, this one sounds cool for the price (50 us$). Anyhow, I must be careful cause if I spend too much time editing, I will stay out of music  :(

Oh, just a few measures of an Arsenic injected in an automated LP filter + Meteor beats. I must rearrange it in Storm 3 cause I had made it on the version 2. For sure, Storm as it is right now allows us to compose more complex songs, we're no longer stuck to a simple sixteenth division. The midi sequencer featuring triplets makes the soft more complete and I do appreciate, as a bad keyboarder, the automatic quantization  :D And of course, the GM module can help put down some cool ideas !

hey thanks mate  :D Well, I won't wish you a good night at this time (almost 12:00) so have a good day !

By the way, I get this sql error whenever I post. Fortunately, it doesn't screw up any message ...

Hello stormers,

First, excuse-me if it takes time before more information is available on the Storm4all site. I do my best to fill the pages but it's a big work

Second, I'll upload two tips about the use of Storm today =>
1) how to get a <10 ms latency with any soundcard
2) Additional keyboard shortcuts not mentioned in the user's manual.

Stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe to the mailinglist   I'll tell you when these tips are on ...

One more thing : I'm in touch with two French professional guitar players. We have to talk about the making of guitar samples to be used in Storm. I'll keep you informed through the mailinglist of all the happenings !

I again   : In a close future, I'll send this kind of info through the mailinglist. I'll also use it as a newsletter. Then, one more reason to subscribe ! (advertisement inside   )

See you

Latest news :

1) It's Ok for several guitar sample banks by a professional guitarist ! Just let me know what kind of riffs you'd like to get (Rock, Metal, Pop). He can record them for free, but it will be cool if you mention him in your song info   ... Stay tuned !

2) I have much work today, the tips and tricks + French pages will be up in a few hours. I'm rearranging a piece of an stm file in Storm 3, this one will be up soon too. Excuse me for the delays, I try to do my best

3) On your side, don't hesitate to send me some stuff to be uploaded.

4) We can set a date for a meeting on the storm hall, what do you think ?

Thanks for your visits !
