Keylab 88 MKii Key Noise
« on: December 20, 2021, 05:43:15 pm »
Over the past couple of year my Kaylab 88 mkii physical keyboard has gone from wonderfully quiet to very irritatingly noisy. What can I do to restore the keys to eliminate this increasing noise?

If this problem can't be solved, I'll be selling my instrument on eBay as I use it for live Classical music performance and need my keyboard quiet.

Welcome.
My Mk1 has gone the same way, I attribute it to the sound-deadening material on the Fatar keybed becoming less 'cushiony' over time. I've thought about going inside to replace it. In the past I have had success with replacing the original sound-deadening on other keybeds with self-adhesive draught-excluder strips intended for doors.

EDIT: here's a YouTube link (no affiliation to me or Arturia) explaining what happens and how to fix it. Obviously you do this at your own risk:

What is a realistic time frame to expect the keybed to remain in a good condition?

Mine sounds like there is a problem with a spring pinging or something in one of the keys rite out of the box.

Welcome.

It's obviously going to depend on useage. But if you have a noisy key straight out of the box then return it for an exchange.

Hello,

I have my Keylab mkii now for 6 months and was very pleased.
Now I get very clicky noise at some keys.
Is there a solution for this problem?

Regards,
Sj
