Keylab Product Refresh 2021 - ??
« on: March 07, 2021, 11:31:47 pm »
Hi.  I'm considering a Keylab mkII purchase, but I'm not in a rush.  So, considering the mkII's were released in 2018, is it likely a mk3 is on the horizon? Curious if there's a refresh pattern (2, 3 year, 4 year, etc) for Arturia.  Any thoughts on what might be added / improved?

Thanks!

Welcome.

I have no inside knowledge, but based on their previous refresh cycle, I'd say 2022.
And like the mkII it will probably be evolutionary not revolutionary. So if you buy a KeyLab mkII right now on the grounds that its functionalities fully meet your requirements, you would be pretty unlucky to find they had implemented some killer feature in its replacement that you can't live without.

Likely the replacement for the KeyLab MkII will have a tighter integration with Analog Lab 5 (or Analog Lab 6, if that's around by then). Some users have complained the integration between KeyLab mkII and the latest Analog Lab 5 is not as tight as it was with Analog Lab 4. So I anticipate a patch either for Analog Lab 5 or the KeyLab mkII firmware to tighten the integration, while the integration between the new KeyLab mkIII (or whatever it's called) and the then-current Analog Lab will be tight right out the box.

You're welcome. I might be totally off the mark of course.

So I know nothing about this really but I am also waiting until arturia at least start shipping again  to buy a keylab 61 mkii in case they are about to release the mkiii - as if you look at the release dates for the keylab 61 it was March 2017 then for Mkii it was June 2019 which could mean september 2021 if you go on the 2 years 3 months theory - or sooner if the fact they’re out of the mkii means anything.... anyway as I said I’m not pretending to know anything but that is my theory and it’s torture because I’m currently using a NI M32 which is TINY....

Bought a Keylab88 Mkll 6 months ago and currently on the verge of returning it for a refund. I'll take the slight financial hit in favour of the aggravation this keyboard and piano, etc. integration it has caused me. Gonna be ZENOLOGY for me from a company who simply knows what they're doing and has their priorities in the correct order.
