OS update.
« on: September 28, 2019, 10:25:29 pm »
So far the technical issues part of this forum has more posts in it than the rest of the forum combined. Which is never a good sign.

The Microfreak sounds really good, but as shown by this forum has some horrible bugs - including major updating issues, issues about loading banks and presets from a computer and being worse than useless in any environment where ideally it should be set to “local off”.

Is there any hope of at least those issues being solved any time soon - as in weeks not years?

As it is the synth is very frustrating to use in a studio setting. I’ve defended it before but my patience is wearing out - I’ve even thought about putting it on Ebay to try and get some of what I spent on it back, but I’d feel dishonest selling somebody something I know to be so unreliable.

No it's fairly common on any forums because most people only join in the first place to get help when they have problems.

And many of those problems were solved by RTM
I'm sure there are people with legitimate problems with buggy freaks but they get lost in the background noise of ones who need help finding the on switch  ::)
I've never had a problem with mine, but then I only use the USB for patch storage / recall. USB Midi was invented by Satan just to make people miserable. :P

I'm on half a dozen forums and about as many facebook groups and generally I find at least 50% of queries people ask about using software and hardware can be answered by just RTFM. It's good to have forums and social media groups where people can ask things if they're unsure, and I'd never want to discourage it, but on the other hand I do wonder how these types of people actually coped pre-internet lol.

I'm on quite a few forums and you do see patterns emerging, one is USB Midi in and out troubles and the other is updating firmware with a Mac.
I'm not just talking about the Freak but many other synths, to be fair though if USB Midi and firmware updates for the Mac are offered then they should work.
