Midi receive for transport
« on: September 08, 2018, 02:47:24 pm »
Hi there,

would it be possible to make the Impact receive midi transport commands? (I know it sends them) As a guitar player I have my hands full and need to control the machine with my feet.

thx

Hi pharaoh0 , and welcome on this board.
Yes the Drumbrute Impact can be synced to other devices as a slave.
Sync can be done by USB, MIDI or CLOCK signals.
So in i mind, i assume you would control the DrumBrute Impact with a midi foot controller/pedalboard.
Don't have one at the office, but it would require the Drumbrute impact and the controller to be set on same MIDI channel, having connected Pedal board midi out to Drumbrute Impact Midi IN,
set MIDI impact sync mode on MIDI.
Sorry for not being able to provide more help, but it should work! If you have a reference to share for the midi foot controller, i'd be happy to investigate.

cheers,

pharaoh0

Yes, but that would require the controller to send midi clock. Foot controllers usually don't. So, using  simple CCs to start/stop the transport (with the Impacy using its internal clock) would be nice.

Interestingly enough the Impact sends CCs on the transport buttons but doesn't receive (I tried).

thx & cheers

Yes, unfortunately, you are right. Maybe in a firmware update?
