No sound when starting from Blank Synth and making connections
« on: February 07, 2018, 12:21:43 pm »
Hello,

I have recently purchased Modular V, and I have started from the Blank Synth template.

I have a connection from OSC 1's square wave to the mixers input, I have then connected the mixer's output to filter 1's input, and finally ran the filter's output to the VCA's input. This is a fairly basic connection however I am getting no sound what so ever.

What am I doing wrong???

Am fairly new to this so any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

It would help if you post a screenshot.

Without being able to see your connections and settings, then for some waveforms like the square be sure the driver pulse width is set so there is sound.

But with a screenshot it would be eaiser to help.

I tried messing with the driver pulse width and still no luck.

Great you posted a screenshot.
I can't see the filter settings on your screenshot. I think this is about your filter settings.

It look like you use the multimode filter. But which? If you for example use the bandpass filter and have both cutoff and resonance turned way up or for example if both cutoff and resonance is in 12 o'clock position, then you will have a very low output if any output you can hear depending on the overall volume settings you use.
I suggest you try some filter settings out. And perhaps some volume settings, but be careful and mind your ears, as it can get from very quiet to very loud.

Also it can have an impact if you use keyboard follow or not. I see you use none "NO" on the filter.

Is this it?

Sorry i just saw it now. You have removed the trigger from the output VCA. Rightclick over the trigger input for the VCA in use and select a trigger like "Keyboard trigger On".

You have changed  some settings if it's the same "blank synth" preset i use. Perhaps it's a good idea to study a little what it is you are changing. Do you have the manual?
(You have also changed the slope parameters. They have and impact on the envelope.)

Your welcome mate.

Perhaps it's another preset.
The main thing is it works.

Be aware that all the things i have mentioned can give no sound. But if i had seen the trigger was missing, then that would be a first thing to try.
