Sequencer midi clock out

i have this feeling that I'm missing something very basic, but I'm not finding this in the manual, or anywhere else.

I want to be able to play the sequencer, but not have it send out midi clock. It seems to send it out automatically, and I don't see a way of stopping it in the hardware, or software.

What am I missing?

You can switch off the MIDI output in the MIDI Control Center. You can't switch off only the clock output - it's all or nothing, but It does let you play the sequencer without sending a clock.
