Notes dropping when using BSP with SR-16 drum machine

I am having a rather strange, intermittent issue when connecting my BSP to an Alesis SR-16 with random notes dropping out. The BSP's pads light up but the sound doesn't trigger on the BSP. I have the SR-16 set to channel 10 and I have all of the pads correctly mapped.

When I use another device with the SR-16 it plays flawlessly. When I use the BSP with another drum module, it plays flawlessly. But there is something with these two specific pieces of kit that causes mis triggers every couple of bars, mostly on either the kick or snare.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and if they figured out a work around.

I do not understand this sentence. Is the BSP master or slave?
