Step input not working as described in the manual

Hi,

I'm following the instructions.

Seq is stopped
Hit rec
Play some notes
Press stop

Playback the sequence and nothing is recorded.

Am i missing something here?

Keystep is in external midi clock mode.

Are you sure it's receiving MIDI clock?  If not it won't play.  Try changing it to Internal and see if it works.  If it does, there is your problem, no clock is being received.  If the same thing happens and nothing plays, I don't know so come back and ask again.

Midi clock is working fine.
Key step starts stop no problem.

Just won't record any notes in step input mode

I'm also checking in midi control centre/seq and notes are not showing.

Oh yeah, are you using the KeyStep's keyboard to enter the notes?

Yes of course.

I've worked this out now but thanks for your help.

Even with my DAW stopped I still need to press stop on the key step before entering record.

Everything is working now as expected.

Ahhh!  I'll have to remember that in case it happens to me and I start going mad.

I ask dumb questions for the purpose of removing the dumb answers as the source of a problem.  From the info you had supplied I assumed you would have mentioned it if you were using a second keyboard, but assuming is bad for trouble shooting.
