My Mac won't download firmware update...
« on: February 15, 2017, 02:44:08 am »
Just got a KeyStep. Was so excited. Not any more.

Nothing but problems... One snafu after another...

Maybe it has to do with firmware update. But it won't let me do it.

Says there is no application to open it up. i downloaded MIDI control center no problem.

Getting ready to return for refund. Seems like this device has lots of issues.

MCC should alert you to the fact you Keystep has an update available if it is properly recognised.  I don't use Apples anymore so can't double check the connection process on one.  You can download the firmware update yourself then tell MCC to update the firmware from the file if the software is having troubles connecting to the 'net.  The firmware is in the form of a .led file.  I don't think a regular MIDI sysex tool will do the trick as it's not a .syx file.
Currently running https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/1311723 / www.modulargrid.net, sequencing with KSP and recording with a Zoom (no DAW involved, for better or worse ;) )
