Running the Midi Control Center while running Cubase DAW
« on: January 18, 2017, 04:58:38 am »
When I run Cubase AI LE 7 it "locks" the Beatstep Pro (Windows 10) so that if I start Midi Control Center (MCC), MCC will not see the Beatstep Pro (BSP). This means I can not run both at the same time, and make changes in MCC while working in Cubase. I use EZ-Drummer 2 as a VST instrument.  If I want to change the pad assignment on the BSP so that it triggers a different drum in a kit then I'd have to shut down the DAW, open MCC, change the assignment, close MCC, reopen the DAW . . .

This is a problem for me because some kits are so large that I feel the need to reassign pads mid project and don't want to iterate through the above process.

Does anyone know of a workaround?  Thank you.

ok, so to answer my own question it does not look like there is anyway to avoid having the daw lock the BSP, but I can use drum mapping to reassign midi pads in cubase.
