Getting the OP-1 and the Beatstep Pro to "talk"
« on: May 17, 2016, 03:51:54 am »
Hi all new Beatstep Pro user here...

I've read about a hundred threads now between this forum and the Teenage Engineering OP-1 user forums but to no avail: I can't get the two devices to "talk," i.e. to work together.

I can get the BSP to sequence my microKorg just fine via MIDI because the Korg doesn't go through my computer. But my OP-1 has no MIDI ports so runs through USB to the computer, like the BSP. In my computer I'm using MidiPipe to route signal, MIDI-out of the BSP and MIDI-in to the OP-1. Both devices are set to Channel 1. In MIDI Control Center (MCC) the pads are all set to the "User" channel, which is designated Channel 1.

What am I missing? I don't get any sounds in the BSP when I'm connected like this. The BSP "Sync" setting should be set to "Int" for internal clock, correct? Is there something in the MCC that I'm not assigning correctly? Do I need to import the setting somehow into the BSP to get it to start?

I'm stuck. Thanks for your help!

Not sure if you've figured this out as I'm sure the Operator-1 forum has helped you, but incase, you'll need a midi interface to help communicate to the OP-1. Check out iConnectivity if you haven't already.

Peace  ;)
