Matrix: presets & knob/slider
« on: February 02, 2016, 09:38:12 am »
good day to all!

just a "simple"(?) question...

situation:
synth knobs&sliders are lying in a certain position and the preset is "A1" no tweaks are made to the preset.
I need to change the preset into "A2", push the button, sound changes.. Cool!
now I have to tweak something... let's say (for easy ref.) cutoff steiner filter.

now the question is... the knob is "absolute" or "relative"?

in other words, in preset A1 the filter is hard closed in preset A2 the filter is full open
if I move (in pres.A2) the filter knob, I have to reach first his relative position (full open and then is workable) or when I move the cutoff, it falls down from "preset position" to "physical position" in zero sec.?

many thanks for any info about!

Hi,

Have you checked the answers to mcx on the "MatrixBrute Videos & Pictures" thread?

I know there's no definitive answer from Arturia, if that was what you were looking for with this new thread about it.

Besides the obvious absolute mode (since those aren't endless delta encoders), we can only hope that the MatrixBrute will also support the mentioned pickup/progressive modes  usually available on other synths.

Maybe they'll spot this thread and provide an actual answer :D

uops I haven't seen the other thread... sorry for double post!
by the way, yes I hope that Arturia choose for "pick-up" method... otherwise will be pretty unusable in live performance... IMHO, obviously!
