Why isn't there a Spark Template?
« on: January 08, 2016, 09:47:11 pm »
What the title says. Sparks basic set up and Beatstep Pro's drum machine IMO should be already integrated, as it stands the notes are different. The whole thing should be as integrated as the Spark LE hardware, there really isn't enough difference to make it worthwhile to spend $200 on the hardware, especially when I'm about to purchase V Collection. It's a match that should have been an out of the box template from the start. Either (ideally) Spark needs to recognize the Beatstep Pro as hardware or Beatstep Pro should have a template to work with Spark.

Hi
If I understand your question correctly ?

GO to the MCC and scroll down the list in device settings until you see  DRUM MAP
from there you can select SPARK , CUSTOM,   GENERAL MIDI,  CHROMATIC

if you select SPARK  then the pads on the beatstep pro match up correctly with the pads on the spark software

cheers

All the Spark template does is change the MIDI notes on the pads to match Sparks.
It doesn't let Beatstep control the transport in Spark, it assigns no encoders in to Spark, not even the arrow keys for the pattern in Spark are assigned to Beatsteps absolutely similar arrows.

In my opinion this was a huge failure in terms of Spark and Beatstep. Arthuria designs both, and even designed them to have similar features, that don't integrate.
I think it's a missed opportunity. I own Beatstep Pro and Spark, plus Maschine Studio, Ableton Push etc. I have a plenty of drum controllers including one from Arturia, so it would be very very hard if not impossible for me to justify buying Arturias hardware controller that looks exactly like Beatstep to do what in my opinion Beatstep should be able to do.
I'm actually very shocked that Beatstep Pro works and integrates with dumb drum machines like Battery and Lives Drum Racks. With Arturias own drum machine, it's awkward.
