Between the Apple Camera Connection Kit and the USB cable place an unpowered USB travel hub. One that has no power adapter option. I use one that can be found on Amazon for cheap and has worked well for a couple years now. Search for "HDE Compact Travel 4 Port High Speed USB 2.0 Pocket Hub".
Basically it's necessary to use an unpowered USB hub so dumb that it will not be able to report power requirement stats to the USB host/iPad/iPhone.

I wonder if BSP itself is sending power consumption information to iPad and perhaps Arturia could fix it with a firmware update? Having the same issue with iPad2. Hubs are too clumsy.

Unfortunately it's a USB compliance standard thing bumping into an iOS power provisions limitations thing not a hardware vendor firmware thing. Something that's been hanging out there in the iOS music world since a little longer than forever. Not much chance of them changing it until iPad10
Good luck. Have fun.

Steinberger: set up compact: BUT place inbetween - inbetween - inbetween - inbetween
)
anyway, i dont understand the ur last remark, the beatstep gets powered by an external supply (i used the usb Y cable) so the ipad usb input is data only
kind regards
