No sustain pedal by default
« on: January 07, 2015, 01:40:00 am »
I realize that the original machines had no sustain pedal.

However .... In a live context, as a multi-keyboardist who is often tasked to play multiple parts, having an infinite sustain (eg. hold peak while sustain pedal (cc64) is down) becomes crucial.

Other plugs, like the Prophet V handle this with a preference (located in the about box).
It would be great if this were a standard across all of the Arturia plugs.

For me, I can not use Solina V live without growing another arm!

Thanks for listening!

Did you look at this article :
http://www.arturia.com/faq/utilization/how-works-sustain-pedal-on-v-collection-4-synthetizers

You can easily map a sustain pedal.

The proposed solution on the FAQ page is to midi-map the sustain pedal (cc64) to sustain-length parameter on the Solina.  This is not the same as what is being requested (infinite-hold), and it only yields sustains ~ 3-4 seconds total.

What is desired is the same as what is described as 'Legacy "HOLD" sustain mode' on the ProphetV.  This will provide infinite sustain from a footswitch (until the footswitch is released).

For usability, sometimes it is better to provide options that break from the original specification of the emulated machine.

Best,
Kevin L

+1 for a 'legacy hold' mode in the Solina V.

+ 1 for "legacy hold" triggered by the sustain pedal like it was implemented for the Prophet V.

Still have not seen 'Legacy-HOLD sustain mode' in the latest update of SolinaV.   This is a major lack of usability for me.

When can we expect to see this in SolinaV?

Thanks,
Kevin L
