Gated and Transposable?
« on: December 22, 2014, 05:15:45 pm »
Can BeatStep gated and transposable when I have a midi controller connected to it?

In other words, can I have the functionality that a keyboard with built-in sequencer has?

Specifically, being able able to transpose the sequence by pressing different keys and being able to run the sequence only when a key is being held.

The way I do this with the Modular Mg is by setting a pad up as a toggle not a gate. I've also set up a patch for the the beatstep where the pads are chromatic. I've also reset the transport in a few patches to emulate the start and stop on the Mg seq.

By also setting the controller knob for the related value, you can change each steps pitch. Not hugely reliable but you get used to it.

Thanks, Stuart
