Analog lab update
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:31:19 am »
Analog lab update

So ive read a bit of speculation on to update or not

So i sat down with analog lab and spark yesterday for a couple of hours threw in a midi file into cubase
and done some testing

Here is the result

https://soundcloud.com/graphitesix/sparky-the-lab-rat

So i managed to get something rough and workable i wasnt plagued with errors

Heres the project file if anyone wants to test importing it

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m9186patiu2di6s/LAB%20TEST.cpr?dl=0

seems to be a bug on the first start of the project the first analog lab doesnt produce any sound can anyone check?

If you reload it a second time its fine

Im working on windows 7 64 bit in Cubase artist 7.5 64 bit latest updates

NI komplete 6 48000hz 128 samples i7 32gb sparkle

So i urge you if you can update get a midi (for quickness) and spend a couple of hours testing and see
what results or bugs you get

The software will take so much longer for bugs to be ironed without full scale feedback

By fullscale feedback i mean full on testing on your system bug/crash reports

They  need the information below:

1.Reproduction frequency of the problem ?

2.Does this issue happens on all presets ? 2.a. If not, please specify the preset Name.

3.More details about your System?

! OS 32bit/64bit

! DAW version

! Plug-in version

! Driver

! sample rate

! RAM

! Buffer audio

1.If possible, provide a step by step way to reproduce this crash.

2.Send us a screenCast (Picture is better than thousand words) -- easy tools: ?ScreenCast for Windows (7 or 8)
?ScreenCast for MAC OSX

3.The Crash LOG

Thanks  8)

Hi there.

I have also noticed this, i'm on Mac. I think this is something wider than just presets as it affects the midi devices too. I think (i'm guessing) it's just not saving the prefs when you close, therefore it doesn't remember the last preset you were on.

Thanks, Stuart

Hi stuart

The preset is loaded correctly

Analog lab is triggering

There is no audio output from the synth though

And only one instance of analog lab is effected and allways the same one

Even if you change preset it doesnt make any sound

Only fix is to shutdown the project file and reopen

Second time it is allways ok

Yeah, I still think this is am Arturia preference thing (As in their code is incorrect) as you also find all your midi devices checked when you start up.

I did update to Analog Lab but never really use it as I prefer Analog Laboratory because it (Used to) works directly with my 61 Laboratory keyboard and works better in Pro Tools than Analog Lab.

I'm more interested as to why they have removed Analogue Laboratory support for their V4 plug ins

Thanks, Stuart

So i put another project together to test spark and analog lab using the matrix and solina

I wanted to really test my pc's abilitys

So i loaded in three matrixs for double lead and bass

2 instances of spark

Realtime on vst realtime peformance peaks at most 40 % average load 30 %

Then i needed a pad so i thought i would go to the solina

Vst realtime performance climbs all the way to the red but average goes to about 40%

Cant hear no pops or crackle or any notes drop out but seems it end of line and time to bounce down

But instead i doubled my buffer to 256 samples giving me 9.7 ms output latency

Vst realtime drops to 55% and average to 35 %

so more room to push it further and sub 10 ms output latency is workable

Will investigate more and post my results

While doing this test i had one bug (all matrixs lost sound output)

I went to make a drink and came back added another instance of spark and pressed play
and there was no sound output from any of the matrixs

I saved the project and reloaded it and it was fine so all good really

The project file is attached if anyones got cubase spark 2 and analog lab

midi is James lawson energise sequenced by bamford

Sorry to double post but wanted to add this

Ok it took 3 matrix's a csv80 3 spark instances and 3 solinas more than enough compressers 2 reverences and a stereo widener

to get it peaking about 85% realtime average load 40%

So im happy with that

I had the sound drop out on the matrixs again

I saved but weird thing is the first instance of spark doesnt produce any sound when its loaded

Everything else produces outputs

You people who know what your doing will have a good chuckle at this project as its OTT and badly put together but i had fun

Apart from the sound dropout everything was rock solid for me even though I was pushing it and purposely using resources unwisely

Ive attached both the files if anyones interested

Triple post im sorry again

Ok this is weird

I go back to open the project that wasnt broken 85 peak

Same thing, same sparks no sound

When i had the sound drop out the second time of the matrix's i reverted to a lot earlier project and rebuilt it the same but using a different csv80 preset

So i load a new instance of spark and copy the pattern and delete the old one

All good got kick and snare etc back

Save it

All should be good

Reload it same thing the spark no sound

So i delete the csv80 and save

Reload the project and sparks ok

I repeated this twice and it fixes the spark so for some reason it doesnt like that combination on load up

I think i have had two bugs one is the Matrix drop out (im asumming its the whole .dll as they all 3 analog lab instances had no sound)

And the csv80 analog lab prevents spark from loading correctly

Also when you try to change preset its just locked in the highlighting moves it just doesnt change preset

I deleted the instance as above in 85 peak project file saved and reopened and when i try to load another instance of lab its the same
highlighting moves but it doesnt change preset

I think i might rebuild the project from scratch without any cubase effects or grouped channels and see if i can replicate it

Thank you

It is weird but we will look into it.

Could you summarize

Cubase exact version and if 64
All plugins exact versions and if 64 and if vst3

Best

Send me a pm or to Ben, please
