Drag pattern to Logic
« on: November 29, 2011, 09:04:38 pm »
Hello,

Just got Spark today. Am enjoying it so far. Just wondering how to drag u=individual patterns to my DAW. Can't find anything in manual regarding it and Song mode isn't really what I want tbh.

Cheers,
CJ.

In addition to the process you are simply executing, do you have something else set somewhere? In preferences maybe?

I'm dragging out of the Spark AU plugin, from the pattern in the Library->Edit window (exactly as you do in the video), and it will not output MIDI. I'm using Spark 1.4 and GarageBand.

If you are getting audio instead of MIDI, you have to change it in the Preferences view.
Look at the "Pattern Drag&Drop Export mode in Library" in MIDI Import/Export section.

Thanks Kevin - I have done that. I am getting neither Audio or MIDI data when dragging the file onto a track. I have both a Real Audio track and MIDI track, and if I alternate/toggle the "Drag and Drop Export to Audio/ Export to MIDI", nothing will come out either way.

Do I need to change the Drum Map model from Spark to General MIDI or something like that, maybe the Spark data isn't MIDI?

Using both the Standalone Spark 1.4 app and the AU plugin from within GarageBand, I cannot drag either Audio or MIDI out from the Librarby on to the desktop

On my current computer, I am using Demo mode, but on my computer at home I have a fully registered product and hardware. I wasn't able to drag MIDI into my tracks on the registered one either.

I didn't think about the fact that demo mode would behave differently - should I test the desktop thing when I get to my home PC with registered software?

Thanks and sorry for the oversight

Yes, demo mode does not allow you to export anything.

Kevin,

with the registered product, I am able to drag patterns out onto the desktop. I still cannot drag them into GarageBand MIDI track, however, I don't think this is the fault of Arturia and the Spark. I cannot drag a MIDI file into GarageBand even from the desktop, so I assume GB doesn't support drag and drop MIDI.

SOLUTION
--------------
My solution for use in GarageBand is to export all my MIDI to a folder on the desktop, import all MIDI files to iTunes to a Playlist with the same name as my Project in Spark, and then use the Media Browser to grab all of these MIDI files for use in the DAW.

It's kind of a pain, but at least it's possible!

Thanks for your help,
- Keith
