Fan Noise?
« on: June 19, 2010, 07:48:14 am »
Is it normal for an origin to have fan noise?  Like when a computer fan starts rattling.  I am assuming that is what it is as it spinds up and down when the powered up or down.

Are there fans in an Origin at all? Or am I hearing something else?

Thanks

Nice, Arturia blew me off, "This is normal, the Origin is very powerful and needs cooling"

Well, a lot of my gear in my studio needs cooling and has fans, but you don't hear them rattling around.

I have to get my ears very close to hear the fan.

Ask Arturia if you can change the fan yourself without loosing garantuee.

Hmm...I am having a really noisy fan as well. Goes up and down in pitch and it is a really whining noise at times... :'(

And first time I started it up today the screen was unlit...a reboot took care of it but these kinds of issues are not what you wanted to have with your new toy.

Hi,

Here is Denis from Arturia.

The is a fan inside the Origin. This was necessary because of the DSP size. Origin use without a fan could have damaged the synth in very warm conditions.

Nevertheless we used a very high quality fan that should be almost noiseless (let's say like in a brand new top quality laptop).

One of our Origin users also reported a rattling fan noise.

He opened his Origin and actually found a wire clearly touching the fan.

You can open your Origin without warranty break because there is no protection sticker.

Anyway in such case be VERY careful. Abnormal manipulation inside the machine could be a break in future use of the warranty (paying repairs).

If you have any doubt, please write to Arturia tech support.

Kind regards,

Denis
