Mac issues- elicenser
« on: June 18, 2010, 11:26:33 pm »
First of all I have so many issues with Arturia plugins on the mac that I have all but stopped using them.  They pretty much consistently crash logic and they gui has bugs that have been left unfixed for well over a year now.  I am disappointed.  I have purchased many other plugins from reputable companies and I dont have these issues.  I send crash reports and they do not get replied to after months of waiting.  It is a shame since these plugins sound so good.  I am going to try them on the PC to see if there is any improvement.

One thing that I find intolerable is copy protection actually crashing sessions.

I accidentally loaded a analog factory instance without my dongle present and after a couple of messages it crashed the Logic session.

Why doesnt Arturia offer a cross platform license for people having this issue.  Many other manufacturers do this (NI, Spectrasonics, FXPansion...which all work great by the way!  and dongle protected ones like Wayoutware TimewARP). I do not want to travel with my main dongles that have dozens of other plugins on them and I dont want to be transferring licenses all day since that even fails at times.  I understand there is a soft elicenser but arturia only offers 1 license per user.  I use macs and pcs and have mutiple iloks and elicensers.  While they are annoying at times why should they crash sessions if not present.  I dont have this issue with my other elicenser protected software.  Its really unacceptable.

hi there,

im very new in this forum and i just got my v-collection a month ago.
i have to say my Logic 9 was working simply great ( i never had a version this smooth then then #9! ) Almost never crashed and i was almost amazed from the whole system !

Since i got the v-collection and installed it a month ago im having only trouble with the logic which became very unstable , several crashes etc. and im worry before starting a new project :(
Also my sound driver (project mix controller from m-audio ) does not work for more then 20 minutes properly . all this issue since arturias plugs landed on my MBP.

I believe and truly hope arturia is working on this huge problem . After all the v-collection cost a good amount of money ....

thanks for urgent help

Hi Dr,

I understand your problems with the eLicenser...

Anyway, this dongle is also used by major editors in the music industry: Steinberg, Korg, etc. therefore definitely handy to hold several licenses on only one dongle.

From a strictly functional perspective, you do not need the hardware dongle in to operate your synthesizer on one dedicated computer. However, all users do not share the same working habits, some are pure sedentary musicians and others are pretty nomad. We do not claim to have found the Holy Grail in matter of "protection vs. comfort" solution, but we are confident in this practical compromise:
_ the sedentary user can use the synthesizer with the virtual dongle (Soft-eLicenser), by default installed on the music computer;
_ the nomad user can use an hardware dongle (USB-eLicenser) to run the synthesizer on several machines.

Kind regards,

Denis

Hi Paq,

Are you using Logic in 32 bits or 64 bits ?

Actually our plugins are developed for 32 bits systems. Arturia is currently working on developing 64 bits compatible updates.

You can switch Logic between 32-bit and 64-bit mode following these steps:

   1. Quit Logic Pro or MainStage if it is running.
   2. Navigate to the Logic Pro or MainStage application in the Applications folder.
   3. Choose Get Info from the Finder File menu.
   4. Disable the option to "Open in 32-bit mode" to open in 64-bit mode.

Feel free to contact technical support if facing any problem,

All the best,

Denis

However last year Korg dropped the dongle and only uses a much easier C/R system now.

Only wishing Arturia would do the same.
