1.2.1 updater not recognized by dongle! HELP!

     I knew I'd have some kind of problem with the Pro-5 but didn't expect this.  Something has gone terribly wrong with the 1.2.1 update as it's not recognised by the dongle.  I installed version 1.0 that came in the box along with the syncrosoft software.  I got the standalone version working.  But then.....
     I downloaded the 1.2.1 updater, then the syncrosoft updater V5.4...but when I open the standalone it's still 1.0.  I tried running the syncrosoft security center to refresh the items but it still says it's 1.0.  Maybe I did something wrong or there's something else I have to do but I need tech. support STAT.
     I think what has happened is this:  V1 was put on the dongle and it's locked in there...preventing me from opening V1.2.1 but I can't remove or refresh the items on the dongle.  How is this done?  You guys really need to put this procedure up in writing on the website!

     The answer:  Install the update WITHOUT the dongle in!    4 hours later I tried it again and it's working on my system...BUT, like the 2600 there are potentiometers with yellow squares(in this case) around them.  I'll list which ones in another post.
     File under another dreadful dongle experience.
