V2 Decay (release) problem
« on: April 23, 2009, 10:24:36 pm »
MiiniMg V2 (not beta) is exhibiting a problem in which the decay (release) of a sound is abruptly cut off. After a key is released, the sound will decay but will click off before the decay time is complete.

Same problem here. When I release a key on my MIDI controller I get a very annoying click on some patches. I tried tweaking stuff but the click just doesn't go away.

Not just the decay, but also the sustain is not working correct.
When set to zero, sounds will still sustain.

Also a lot of volume and filter settings have changed on my patches.
So they don't sound as intended. I'll see if I can fix them. But I think
there will be an update soon.

Hi Antoine,

The decay is cut off short which sometimes ends with a clicking sound.
For example my sound MM_Analogic. Play a chord and release the notes.
You will hear what I mean. The clicking noise is sometimes more obvious
than other times.

Then the sustain problem is noticeable on all percussive sounds. Try
MM_Distorsnare and keep a note pressed. A snare drum is normally not
supposed to sustain...

Yes, same here.
Whatever Decay value, the sound is cut short, sometimes with a click.
The Sustain value stops working at around "3.00" and never reaches Zero.

Okay, I heard some "hurrah" yells from the developers crypt, means the bug has been fixed. Time to compile a new version, passing through more tests, this should be available online early next week.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Other thing, we checked several times and can affirm no volume settings have been changed. Currently investigating if filter settings have been affected or not.

Once again, thanks for your high demand, this sharpens our creativity.  :)

Congrats on finding that bug and thanks for being so prompt at replying here!

There are some cpu concerns and popping/clicking issues mentioned in another thread that hopefully you guys can check out as well. For example, one patch I found where simply turning on the mod matrix made the cpu jump by almost 10% with nothing loaded in the slots. Someone mentioned in another thread as well that opening the mod/fx cabinet increases cpu quite a bit for them, without any actual parameter changes going on.

The new features are definitely very fun, hopefully the cpu can be brought down a bit!

cheers!

Other thing, we checked several times and can affirm no volume settings have been changed. Currently investigating if filter settings have been affected or not.

I'm certain a lot of volume settings on my patches have changed. For example in the
EFX bank, some volume settings have changed from 10 to almost 0. I don't know why,
cause I already made sure that none of the levels were going over 0dB in my host.

I found the problem with the filter settings. It appears that the EG VCF Lev Destination
in the Mod Matrix is no longer working. I often set velocity as a source to control this.
So without this working, a patch will sound very different.

Another thing that has changed some of my patches is the initial modwheel setting. I
sometimes set the modwheel to a starting position of for example 50 or 60%. But with
the latest update the modwheel was reset to 0% on some of my patches. This can have a
great impact on the sound.

I will mail you an adjusted version of my sound bank. Hopefully the team can add this
to the next update.

Hi everyone,
The "Decay bug" has been corrected!  :)
We modified the download link on the Updates page, for all newcomers to directly have the latest binary. So, please download and install the MiniMg-V 2.0 again, that should run like a charm.
Please confirm everything is operational from your side.
