Basic Sine Wave
« on: November 21, 2008, 08:06:21 pm »
Hey I'm trying to get a basic synth sound out of my Mg. I'm looking for the basic simple tone. I need it for ear training. Is there are preset or something or do I have to make it. Thanks.

You have to make it, but it's not hard.

Launch the application.

At the top, click the arrow to the left of where it says "BANK" in tiny letters and select "All", "Blank", "Blank_synth"

That will give you a patch that makes no sound at all.

Now look at the second row of modules.  The first module is labeled "DRIVER"; the second is labeled "OSCILLATOR"  There is a switch labeled "Sync" on that module; to the right of that is an output with a little sine-wave signal next to it.

Right-click that output, and click "Connect", "VCA 1", "Input."

That will draw a connection between the output of that oscilator and the input of the "ENVELOPE" module near the right part of the module row.

Move upward in the "OSCILLATOR" module and look at the "range" knob.  Set that knob to "4"

Now you should be able to play notes on the keyboard and hear them.  If they're too high, you can lower them by an octave by setting the knob to "8".
