HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR A UPDATE????
« on: December 29, 2007, 06:46:05 pm »
It has been almost 6 months now that I'm waiting for a proper working
Jupiter. I'm not happy with the sound coming out of it to . Sounds very
digital and harsh compare to the real one and the cross mixer makes realy
no sense compare to the original. Maybe in 2016??????????

Remarkably, and without being pressured, Arturia have confessed to me that the cross-mod on 8V is not quite right, and have undertaken to improve it in a future revision.

....I'm waiting, too....

hmmm.ok for the cross-mod,I'm currently working on its improvement.(Good FM reproduction in the digital domain is not really a trivial problem)
But  isn't "very digital and harsh" a bit strong?? Have you read Gordon Reid's Article about the Jupiter 8 V ?

Dear Vincent, No but I trust my own ears! What I learned about software
is never trust one article/review in a magazine , because it's mostly a
part of the advertisement. I love the sound of: CS80, Arp2600, MiniMg,
Mgmod. and realy don't like the sound of the Prophet-V and Jupiter 8.
But I found out that I prefer my hardware even more (Virus, Machinedrm,
Creameware Minimax etc.), because they sound better, they do not have
software problems and they mix better in a song also because there sound is better. Greatings David :D

...for me it doesn't sound digital and harsh...so who is right now?  :P
A very different beast is the cross modulation! Will the next update make improvements of that?

Take a look at this video at 1:43~2:00. It's easy to tell the difference.

One of the poster's complaints is:

It's different! The real Jupiter 8 has more top end! Ripoff!

So it needs more "top end" (whatever that is, I don't know) on the sound to match the Jupiter 8's sound.

Also, what Arturia needs to do for a pure replica of the Jupiter 8, is make the eight preset banks, A B C D E F G H  take the place of the preferred patch settings 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 respectively. (On the Jupiter 8 LED they are respectively shown as patch numbers 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08)

What I mean is that they should not be programed off of the sound "Default." They were "templetes" for you to program all your sounds on the Jupiter 8, thus giving you eight default voices to program off of.
