New, Faulty ? Help

hello
just got mine today

it seems like the the lfo is constantly going to the gate to make a constantly " choppy" sound
nothing i do makes it produce a smooth sound

id like to know if this is a faulty unit ... thanks

i had a filter gate on a hidden insert track on pro tool
