Spark Controller - Over sensitive 'Hi Tom' pad.
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:39:35 pm »
When pressing the other pads or even just tapping lightly with one finger on the controller case itself the 'hi tom' pad keeps triggering.

do I need to send this back - it's under warranty...?

Please advise me on this Arturia, it is a manufacturing defect of some sort....

Hi,
you can try to recalibrate the pads using Spark MIDI Control Center.
Launch MCC, the go to menu Action>Calibrate Pads.

Hi Kevin,
I have the same problem with an "over sensitive" Hi Tom. I've run the MCC but under the Action menu I don't seem to have an option for calibrate pads. It's just Disconnect, Send or Update.

thanks,
Eric

As i know, only Spark has the Calibration option in MCC. If you have SparkLE there is no Calibration option in the MCC.

I am mystified by this fix, as I think it is a physical fault, i.e. the unit needs to be opened and the pad checked to make sure nothing is out of line or something, anyway I will try this fixed - but I'm dubious a software tweak would fix a physical defect. i.e. why would just tapping the unit (not even a pad) trigger the hi-tom. When I grab the pad with 2 fingers and pull it up a touch it stops happening for a while until gravity/useage puts it back to square one of being over sensitive.

I will try this calibration thing - does this adjust sensitivity I wonder?

I'll come back with my findings...

This issue has nothing to do with calibration - I have sent a support through the appropriate channels for some assistance in fixing this, it is an easy fix, but I cannot do it without Arturia's small input.

You are right.
The calibration can fix some over sensitivity issue but sometimes it is not enough and the unit needs to be repaired.
You can PM me your support ticket number, I will forward this to the appropriate person.

the support ticket thing is not working - I am getting no confirmation emails, nor is it logging the support to my account...

I have sent you a pm explaining the situation and hopefully this will be easily resolved(fixed) with Arturia's help, thanks...

Hi Sparkem,
If you get a resolution, can you let me know what it was? I have the same issue.
Thanks,
Eric

This was fixed by myself - I was eventually told by Arturia to contact their UK distributor, by then I had already fixed it.

Basically the rubber was buckled, I put in some matchsticks pulled up the pads and kept them there for a week in a warm room...
