Mini brute wood side panels?

Would it be easy to replace the side panels with my own wood panels?

if you're good at woodworking it should not be too difficult. Plastic sides are not involves in the structure of the case.

Ooh, good idea.  I think the minibrute actually looks pretty good with the stock endcaps, though, so I'll keep mine as is.
I did make custom wood sidepanels for my mpc a while ago.  I imagine the process would be pretty similar.  I made mine with only hand tools, with power tools it could be done more accurately and with better results, though I like the rough finish mine ended up with.

Here's a bunch of pics I made during the process:

definitely post pics here if you end up doing it!

I would try the screws on the bottom that are on the sides, right next to the endcaps.
They might be just to hold the endcaps in place, so you could take them off without having to take off the whole back panel.  That's how it is on my mpc1000.

i found how to unbuilt it, it's pretty easy. i made three set of sides, one in dark walnut, one in maple and one in oak. here is a pic with the dark walnut sides, made of real hardwood and eccofriendly finish.
