CV cable success
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:01:26 pm »
Hey,

I just wanted to post a success story in finding CV cables for my Minibrute. I needed to interface to some 1/4" jacks on other gear, and I hate using barrel adapters on the end of a 1/4" cable (all that leverage on a poor tiny 1/8" is not good for jack longevity).

So I went looking for a cheap off-the-shelf match, and found the 3' long Hosa CMP-103, which oddly goes from 1/8" TRS ("stereo") to 1/4" TS ("mono"). The tip of the 1/4" side is split to both tip and ring on the 1/8" side. Was worried that it might therefore get the signal shorted out, depending on the placement of the contacts inside the Brute, but it works great!

Some places online were calling the CMP-103 a summing cable, which if true would have introduced extra resistance to the CV's path, but in fact this is NOT properly a summing cable, so no worries there.

cheers,
Leigh
