crossgrade? osx 10.8.2?
« on: January 16, 2013, 03:34:30 pm »
Hello Bruno,

I've been reading there are some issues upgrading under Mac OSX 10.7 and not wanting to risk a minibrute that's not working anymore now I finally got it, I thought it be wise to wait for the next upgrade making that a crossgrade. Is that possible, will I miss out on the fixes in firmware 2.01. or are they also include in future updates.

Did anyone upgrade their firmware under OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion, are the problems only with OSX 10.7 or is it in general with Mac.

Case

Hi,
the problem was not related to firmware update, but to the app read/write permissions. Basically if you can start the app it will be fine.
In the worst case, even if update fails (power cut, unplugged usb, system failure), it can be recovered easily.

Hi Bruno

Thanks for the reassurance.
The original firmware worked fine the first time
so I will install the update.

Thanks

I am confused!
The manual reads:

Click the "Check Update button" to open a web browser which will guide you directly to the latest version available. If the version on the Internet is more recent than the one shown previously, close the MiniBrute Connection application, download the new update, extract it and install this new version.
(When I do this the arturia page reads update version 1.01)

Click the "Update Firmware button" to manually update your firmware to the version included in the application.
The update process takes a few seconds only, the octave LEDs will display activity to let you know it is updating. Make sure not to disconnect your unit before process completion! Once completed, first reboot MiniBrute, then click OK
(the version "included" in my application is version 1.01)

I don't understand
Should I close the minibrute connection application, install a new one, let it over write the old one.
Or is the application connected to internet and "update itself" that way?
I don't get it

Finally found the included file in your update message in this forum and not on the Arturia page
The connection app update does not work with "check update" and "update firmware" yet?

Read the manuals through and through....again

Turned the minibrute on
Downloaded your link, double clicked the new 1.0.2.1
moved it to my arturia folder, opened it up
it still reads version 1.0.1.0.

closed the connection app
rebooted minibrute
opened up the connection app
it still reads version 1.0.1.0.

left the connection app running
rebooted minibrute
it still reads version 1.0.1.0.

I'm lost

ah now I got it...
it's like a zip file that needs unpacking first
sorry for the long post
but it might help others dealing with the same problem

and yes it's working so this is what you do....

power up your minibrute (like you do normally)
download Bruno's link (in the top message of the forum)
put it in a folder where it can stay (don't change the location afterwards)
open it (the MiniBrute Connection_V1.0.2.1 file)
click on the tab Firmware update (it reads version 1.0.1 don't worry it must be installed first)
click button Update Firmware (5 octave leds will light up shortly)
DON'T click OK afterwards (but first reboot the minibrute)
Reboot (than click OK)
Finished

Sounds easy when you say it like that

anyway...Minibrute synth proofs to be the missing link in my studio...love it

much better explanation than mine thanks!
version 1.0.2 is not officially released on the web site,  that's why, the Check version button  points to 1.0.1.
before updating Minibrute Connection, shows version 1.0.1 because that the one that i acutlly in your machine. After update it should switch to 1.0.2
