Notes dropping from one track if playing in another track
« on: January 04, 2023, 03:52:44 am »
I don't know if I am stupid or crazy, but when I have a sequence or arpeggio playing say on midi channel 1, and I play another instrument on channel 2, if I play the same exact note that is being played on channel 1 at the same time, the note cuts off or drops from channel 2.  So it is like the midi channels are crossing streams, but there is no way.  This happens if I use USB or midi din connections to hardware or software synths.  Does anyone else have this problem or a solution?

Update.  I figured out this only happens when I use it through my MPC Live II.  So if I connect direct to a computer then it seems to work fine for VSTs, but if I connect to MPC and trigger anything in MPC, or trigger any other hardware or software synth through MPC midi routing I have the problem.I need to try routing through computer to various hardware.

This is too bad.  There shouldn't be these kinds of compatibility issues with modern USB midi hardware.

Update 3:  I have been trying everything to sort this issue of cutting off notes in 1 sequence when they play on another midi channel.

    Ok so I tried it:

     1.  usb connected to MPC, drops/cuts off notes notes.
     2. midi din connected to MPC, drops/cujts off notes
     3. Usb connected to midi host box then midi din connected to MPC, drops/cuts off notes
     4.  USB connected to PC, routed through cakewalk via wireless AKAI midi to MPC, no dropped notes.

So it seems going dawless or PC less with the Keystep Pro and the MPC is impossible, however it does work when used with a PC.   I don't know if it is an MPC issue or Arturia issue, but it is disappointing.    Would be nice if they could sort this.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas why I might have this problem let me know.
