How well does the Minilab Mkii map to Logic Pro X?
« on: August 26, 2022, 11:45:34 pm »
I'm preparing to purchase a midi controller for Logic Pro X. I'm on a super budget so the Minilab Mkii is very enticing with its current price point and capabilities in comparison to MANY other controllers I have researched. I am wondering how well does it map and integrate with Logic Pro X?

Reasonably well, mainly with the smart controls.
But it doesn't have aftertouch, so that was a very very hard pass from me, and was the reason I bought a KeyStep 32 instead, for a similar price.
I see aftertouch as an absolutely vital feature this day and age, same as velocity was 20 years ago.
The DAW integration, pads and fancy knobs are pointless to me if the keybed is lacking what I consider to be a rudimentary feature, like aftertouch. So I will instantly pass-by any controller without it, irrespective of its other qualities.
YMMV.
