Use main vocal mic with MicroFreak
« on: November 21, 2021, 06:11:13 pm »
Hi There,

Is there a cable/converter for sending the main vox mic to the microfreak when playing live using a splitter?

I couldn't find an XLR –> TRRS cable or converter - does such a thing exist?

Cheers, Ben

I'm in the same boat, I found a TTRS splitter on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07114YZFC) that was mentioned in a reddit thread as working with the Microfreak.  I want to use a mic pre that I own with it. It has unbalance 1/4" and balanced xlr out.  Unbalanced cable to a 1/4" to 3.5mm didn't work, though the adapters I have are really junky so that could be the issue. I'm going to try an XLR to 1/4" balanced patch cable next and see.

I just figured it out earlier, even though the unbalanced out of my pre is TS, I used a stereo cable to a stereo 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter and it worked right away.  A lot of those adapters are junky, so I also checked continuity from one end to the other with a mutimeter.
