Keylab Essential 61 is not recognized by any software
« on: November 06, 2020, 10:28:59 pm »
I just purchased the Keylab Essential 61. I have it connected to the computer via the USB but none of the software recognizes the key presses. I have the software (Analog Lab, Mini, and UVI Workstation), and DAW (Studio One 5 Artist) pointing to the Keylab Essential 61 but none of them recognize that I am playing. If I use the mouse to hit a note, the note sounds. But, if I press the keys on the keyboard, nothing happens. Each piece of software and DAW indicate that Arturia Keylab Essential 61 is connected but they do not react. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi and welcome to Arturia forums.

It's not clear if you have tried the applications like this or only inside your DAW.
Does it work, if you open Analog Lab and Mini V3 in Stand Alone mode outside the DAW? If not then please post a screenshot of the standalones Audio and Midi settings.
If you get sound, then you know the controller output notes, and in that case please report this back.

Also please post a screenshot of the DAWs External Device setup, that you have made for your controller.

Please also post screenshots of a Arturia applications Audio and Midi settings like i asked for.
It's allways best to start with the most simple, and that's without using the DAW. You can wait to post the following, after you have posted this, as this quickly can give important informations. At this point this is the most important thing to post, and why i wrote about that first, in my previous post.
If you have done the setup in those applications correct and the chosen soundcard is enabled and work, then things should work.

The next step:
The first screenshot you have posted say "Not Connected" for your controller. It shall be connected. Please reconnect it.
If you in example unplug your controller from the computer, then you can loose connection.
Also sometimes a update can disconnect a controller.
Click the Reconnect button you see in your screenshot. The controller must have been connected at a time, as you have been able to select it in the dropdown menu in the setup.

When connected, then if you arm and monitor your tracks in Studio One, then you should be able to hear sound, if your audio settings is correct.
So please if it does'nt work, then please tell and show how you have set up your soundcard in Studio One and show the outputs you have for you master out. Also post a screenshot of a track with a plugin, as it is, when you start playing.

That said, then i will suggest you untick the boxes you have ticked in the External device setup. You filter out those things, if you tick them, so all the things you have ticked in the filter section of the setup will not work.

Thank you for the quick response. The field you are referring to in the DAW is the "Sending to" but it is not sending anything to the Arturia; however, at your suggestion, I will add that. Also, the MCC does not respond when the Arturia is plugged in, and I do not know what to do with the firmware (keylabessential_Firmware_Update_1_1_6_993.led). After I download it, my system does not know what to do with it . . . it does not recognize what to do with it.

I'm referring to your first screenshot.
The faderport show "Faderport".
I have and use Studio One 3.

You have not posted a screenshot of Analog Labs Audio and midi settings, It's a screenshot of the application.
You find the Midi and Audio settings in the menu.
This indicate you have'nt setup your controller for your applications.
Please read in the applications manuals.
Click the menu button in Analog Lab. It's  The button in the top left where  The Arturia logo is, and the name Analog Lab is.

Again, thanks. I have a Presonus Fader that handles the transport functions so data flows in and out, to and from the Faderport. The Arturia only sends information to the DAW to control the virtual instruments and MIDI messages. I previously used a Yamaha to perform the MIDI functions and it worked just fine. Do you know why the Midi Control Center locks up any time the Arturia is plugged in?

Your welcome.

Well apparantly the controller is found in Analog Lab.

AFAIK then Presonus Audiobox have it's own Driver. Select that instead of Windows Audio. And then select your Audiobox.

When that's done, then do you get sound, when you play the keyboard? I believe the keyboard should work in any mode, but try different modes if not.

Still nothing. Also, do you know why I get the message box in the MCC after I try to upgrade the firmware that says my device is not connected when it is connected.

I don't have a Arturia controller yet.
Your DAW also say it's not connected.

Can you find the controller in Windows Device Manager?

Have you unpluged and replugged the controller and other things many times?

Excuse my ignorance but what indicates that my DAW says it's not connected. Also, I am sending a screenshot of my Wndows Device Manager. I will try another USB cord. Hopefully, that is the issue (fingers crossed).

Thank you for your patience and help.

Great news.

I'm used to try cables and such as normal troubleshooting, so i'm not allways thinking about that, as i exspect it has been tried. Also a new cable should work.
But glad it work now. Have fun now.
