Release don't work when on USB
« on: March 12, 2020, 12:55:12 pm »
Hi, i've connected the MF over USB (for power only) on my Mac (Mac PRO 2014 - OS high sierra - MG firmware 2.0.3 latest).

When i play notes the going in a loop (seems as they have an "infinite release").

In ableton, says "unkonow mididevice" but sends midi note to MF with the right ADSR.

It seems that only the MF keyboard is "broken"

This happens only when in USB on computer. I've tried with "exsternal power" and there is no problem

Any other? is a firmware bug?

many thanks, philo

Sounds like you may have a MIDI loop going. If that is indeed it, you can try to turn off Local on the uF or turn off MIDI Thru on your Mac/Ableton.

Many thanks.

I'll try to be more clear:

1) MF -> USB -> Mac (ableton closed) -> MF keyboard notes -> infinite release

2) MF -> USB -> Mac (ableton opened)

2.1) Ableton Notes -> MF -> right release
2.2) MF keyboard notes -> infinite release

it's very strange.

thanks to all.

It still sounds as if there's a MIDI loop.
For 2.1 Ableton sends notes out to the uF and it works
For 2.2 the uF sends notes to Ableton and Ableton sends them back to the uF (if MIDI thru is On in Ableton)
For 1, I'm not sure what Mac OS does, but a loop sound plausible beacuase of the infinite release

I.e. the "infinite release" could be notes being sent in a MIDI Thru loop:  uF -> Mac (passing MIDI through)  -> uF.

Did you try switching Local off on the uF or MIDI Thru off in Ableton (and possibly some Mac OS MIDI handling that causes a loop)?

once again, thanks a lot for answer.
i think you're right (a MIDI loop).

"LOCAL off" switch off the MF keyboard too. so the problem don't exists.

i'll try to find if there's something that works "against me" on my mac...  :)

thanks again
