AudioFuse stops playing sound after 7 seconds
« on: February 05, 2020, 03:05:07 am »
I already sent this to support but I'm starting to freak out now:

Hi, I have a brand new Arturia AudioFuse and can't get it working. On Ableton Live, sound comes out for around 6 or 7 seconds and then it dies.
I also tried setting it as the default audio output for the Mac, and for example, if I go to Google Chrome and try playing a video on Youtube, the video won't start, it just freezes. Everything gets back to normal if I use internal audio. I have a Novation AudioHub and everything works perfectly. Already updated the firmware to version 1.1.

If I click on the "% CPU" box on Ableton (which turns the audio off), and enable it again, it starts working again for 7 seconds and then it stops again.

Sounds familiar? Can you help me out here? I'm freaking out  ??? . Thanks!

Hi
Have you tried a reset buy holding down the main cue and mono button while powering up with the PSU
but also try deleting the midi driver in your mac utilities  audio midi setup app then turn it back on using the correct Usb cable that came with the unit.

Hope this may help

Attaching a video of the problem to be more clear:

WTF Arturia? Still no answer from support.

I have a Novation AudioHub interface and it works perfectly.

Just tried a factory reset by holding CUE and MONO while powering up with the power supply. The Control Center still says the Firmware is 1.1.1.

I'm using the original USB cable, this is a BRAND NEW Audiofuse, I got it 3 days ago, unboxed yesterday.

The reset is holding down the main mono and cue buttons   The Fw should not change

Ok, yes, I tried that, I thought it was to also reset the firmware. No luck.

I guess I'll try doing the "emergency firmware" thing.

Still no response from Arturia.

If all else fails just return it as faulty and ask for an exchange. It's kinda what we all did before internet forums came along. You have consumer rights, especially as it's brand new.

Did you remove the audiofuse driver in the AMS on your mac, Also is the usb plugged directly into the mac. when you power back up is the
midi driver seen in the AMS in white highlight.
Also in AMS the audio routing is the audiofuse there and have the speaker and mic icon next to it

I did remove the MIDI Driver, is there anything else I could remove manually? I'm a software developer so I know my way around, if you have any other manual steps I could take, deleting files, etc, let me know.

Also, being a developer, this smells a lot like a software issue, not hardware, maybe it's a MacOS problem, I'm testing the AudioFuse in a Windows box as I type and it works perfectly fine (so far I just listened some MP3s using foobar2000). So I think this is not a hardware issue.

I didn't try resetting the PRAM, but I have tons of other devices and all of them work perfectly, Arturia Keystep, Ableton Push, Novation AudioHub, Behringer BCR 2000.

Still no response from Arturia.

Ok, I didn't clean the PRAM but I followed this procedure for an "SMC" reset:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Somehow this broke the Spotlight indexing it was opening & crashing every second, making the Magnifier icon in the top appear and dissapear (WTF?????), after killing a few processes and rebuilding the index with: "sudo mdutil -E /", I got it working again. Then cleaned all caches with a tool called "Avast cleanup" and restarted. It's working now, not sure what fixed it, probably the SMC reset, since it's supposed to be related to power management. I wonder if it was some USB power saving feature or something crashing on the background.

I’m glade you got there.  Sometimes Mac 💻 need a spring clean. To get them back to normal use. Long time ago it used to be the permissions that caused issues
