It's one button press to get to USER mode. So it can't be any simpler. Of course, you're then in USER mode rather than DAW mode, but all this really means is that you don't have control over your mixer and pan. This you can set up in a USER mode and voila.
Arturia chose to have the pads launch clips in DAW mode, which I find odd, but when competing with Push and other grid controllers, seems to be the way it goes.
