Keylab 88 doesnt work at all
« on: September 02, 2017, 02:43:32 pm »
Hi, since a week my keylab 88 isnt seen by the computer at all. Everything used to work fine and suddenly it all stoped. When I turn the keylab now on, all the lights go on on the keylab but on the computer nothing happens; midi control center doesn’t see it, my daw doesn’t see it, I don’t see a mini midi icon at the down right action bar, nothing…what to do?
My system:
Windows 7 Service pack 1, Intelcore i5-4590 CPU@3.30GHZ, 8GB RAM, 64bits. DAW; Sonar platinum

We're here, but at least for me, I have NO idea what's going on. Computer-based problems are a b**ch to solve, unlike mechanical hardware problems. It may be the computer, it may be the board. Have you tried plugging it in to another computer? The fact that it changed suddenly suggests some kind of (possibly hidden) computer update.

I have problems with the Keylab just not showing up as well. Sometimes unplugging and changing USB ports works. Yeah, I know it shouldn't matter but something changes. Has anyone tried using the MIDI outs instead of the sh%$#y USB drivers?

Yeah, the MIDI Outs are MUCH better and give more precise data. I even made a detailed analysis and sent in the results to Arturia, who agreed with my findings, and said they're supposedly working on them. Though, for my work, the USB drivers still work pretty well, and I still use them as a matter of convenience. But it's so easy to hook it up via MIDI. You can use the USB port with a wall wort to just power the unit, and then use a MIDI interface (like a $15 cable with an interface builtin) as your data stream. It's actually better anyway, I'm just too lazy to hook it up that way (!)

If that doesn't work, then your unit has some really major problems that need repair.
