A main tuning (For instance between A = 420 - 460 Hz) would be useful for:
Analog Lab, B3, Farfisa, Piano, Solina, Stage-73, Vox, Wurli(tzer).
Also a Hold function could be useful for those application that don't have one.

A main tuning function can be needed for different reasons.
Examples is if you have to tune to a real acoustic piano or another real instrument, or if you have to tune to recordings of any kind that for different reasons is not tuned using A=440 Hz.
Not all real instruments is easy to tune. And not all are or can be tuned in A=440 Hz.
A has not allwaus been 440 Hz either, and for different reasons it still aren't everywhere.
Also you sometimes just might wan't to have a instrument a little out of tune for different reasons.
I guess you also detune oscilators for instance. You do that for a reason too.
A main tuning function makes a instrument fleksible to use.
Being able to tune a electronic instrument is quite normal. A main tuning make it easy to tune.
I think even some acoustic pianos have had a tuning possibility of a kind.
EDIT: I can add that i found Piano V can be tuned using Global tension. It can be tuned between A=400-480 Hz. During history i think values between 380-480 Hz has been used. And more than one way of tuning has allways been used at any time - including in the present.
I for instance also believe the real Solina had a main tuning. Being able to tune a instrument has allways been needed. EDIT END.
