Just feels pretty lonely in the Storm forum. I'm thinking of picking up a copy, so I hope it isn't a dead end product. Im enjoying the demo quite a bit.

Same thing for me: I am considering buying Storm, but the lack of activity here doesn't help.

I would like to know if there is a new version in project, and if Storm 3 works correctly on the new Macs with Intel chip...

Well, as far as I can tell, all there other stuff is going macintel. Storm works really well for me, but maybe it has to stay on an older computer. I had it up and running on my "ancient" Tibook with no problems. Any modern Mac should run it pretty well. Theres a few copies on ebay for cheap. Looks like about 40 bucks new or whatever used. I would be tempted to go with new, as I wouldn't expect these guys at Arturia to bother transferring a registration. They don't even respond to email according to most posters.

:? One more thing. If you are on Macintel already, you might check out Orion by Synapse. Yes its a windoze program, but seems like Storm on steroids. There are at least 3 ways to run windows apps on Macintel now.

Orion Platinum is pretty cool too, but I still like Storm.

You are right there is not much activity on here for Storm, but I love it and have created a lot of music with the program. Having the registered version gives you more functionality in importing , exporting and saving to file. I have posted a couple of the songs on My space.

It sounds great, but the lack of any recent product development nor the absence of the ability to run it at 48k makes it a dead product. Reason or Abelton Live both are updated regularly and will run at 48k and higher. Plus, both of those companies have better customer support - they will actually respond to customers in an reasonable amount of time.

I concur with your recent post but must point out that Reason and Live are $$$ more so you more or less get what you pay for.  I picked up Storm a couple of years ago when it was being "blown out" and , for the price, thought it would be an interesting toy.  I figured the program as 'dead' back then and was at first put off by the fact that there were no updates, no new instruments developed, no noise on the forum nor user contributions.  However, I've had a blast with it and it's deeper that it appears on the suface.

I'm not a professional so I don't require it to do anything beyond entertain me, which it has done well.  Plus, I've never had a crash or noise issue with it which is more than I can say for some of the more expensive software I own.

Just my two-cents, but I think it's great for what it does and, at the very least, inspires.  Development from the inspiration can then be executed on  a 'higher plane'.  If there's a few extra $ to toss around, Storm is as good an investment as any.

I appreciate your response and note of encouragement.  I already did the 'pro' schtik back in the analog days.  Now I'm just a hobbyist filling in my spare time playing with VI's and DAW's.  I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY that one should always get the best software available.  I've dropped a lot of coin on my hobby and do have the software.  

The point I was making with Storm was that, for dollars spent, it was a more than worthy investment for me.  There is really no comparison to Reason even though the concept is the same.  I doubt that I'd consider Storm for professional application given the bit-depth limitation that you mentioned but for me, the point is moot.

I guess I'm responding to clarify that I wouldn't recommend Storm as THE prodution software, let alone the only one in a musician's studio.  I feel that Arturia thinks along the same lines as they've not improved upon it and have dedicated their time, rather, to developing excellent vintage synth emulations.

Thank you for reviving this thread - maybe if enough people began to show interest in Storm again, Arturia might consider re-addressing it.  I'd like to see Storm 4 as a self-contained production suite that utilised Arturia's VI's - kinda like a software version of Origin or a recording studio version of Analog Factory - just a thought...........
