Storm 3.0 Scratch Module
« on: June 01, 2005, 02:23:20 am »
Hi

I have been working with the scratch module, and I have hit a brick wall. I have consulted the manual and the online help, and I have not been able to find an answer to my question.

I can make the turn tables scratch by clicking with the mouse and draging up and down. This is great for rehearsing, but how do I record something in the sequencer that will automate the scratching?

Also, I have right-clicked and selected the edit menu for the controllers, and I see that I can assign CC #'s to the Pan, Volume, and the speed of each deck. Is there any way I can use CC information to control the scratching of the decks? Since I run Storm as a ReWire client, I would love to automate this module from a MIDI track in my host sequencer.

Hi,

If I'm not wrong, you can't. Just a live recording is possible as for the scratch moves. Though, I'm not sure cause I actually never use this module

Thanks for the response.

Since the original post, I have been able to record some 'scratching' in the sequencer, but I have to use the mouse to make the scratching. Doing it this way is clumsy and awkward. It would be nice to be able to assign each deck to a knob on my X-session controller.

The scratch module has actually never been revisited since the very first release of Storm if I'm right.

Ah, I think it is time to e-mail support, and see if we can work something out. Thanks for your help.

I wanted to post that this has been resolved quite well.

The crossfader and both decks can be automated. Simlply <CTRL> - Click on either deck or the cross-fader and the MIDI Learn dialog appears. You can manually assign it a CC message or use the MIDI learn function.

You do have to have a MIDI input assigned in the MIDI preferences prior to trying to learn a controller.

Thanks to Fabrice and Didz@dron for all their help.
