Can polybrute slave a second modular synth?
« on: January 24, 2022, 11:57:11 pm »
Hi
I am wondering if polybrute can be played along with a second (daisy chained) modular synth, using only the keys on the PB.
Is this possible using the midi through?

You'd have to use the MIDI Out to play the modular with the PB keys. The Through port echoes the MIDI In port, which is the standard for DIN MIDI, so the notes played on the PB keys are not sent there.

Edit: Reading again, it's possible I misunderstood your question(?)

I think you understood me.   ;D
I am looking for a way to play the polybrute and a second synth simultaneously using the PB keys.

Yeah just MIDI out like DrJustice said, set to the right channel on your MIDI to CV converter, and you’re good to go.

Ah, ok - as guyaguy confirmed then :)

With the PB as a controller keyboard, you can also use the Split mode and assign a different MIDI channel to each half of the keyboard. Thus you can do things like playing the PB and the modular separately from the PB keys if you want, and/or use the morph for two sounds on the PB and one on the modular

The slave synth will have a midi in, so I shouldn't need a CV converter - unless I am missing something?

thx btw

Ah, OK - then you're good to go. PB + Modular = wicked sound machine  8)
