New BeatStep user
« on: February 03, 2016, 06:08:17 am »
Hi guys!

So I recently (like today) bought a BeatStep to work with my Roland Boutique series. My question is, will BeatStep start the sequencer on the Boutiques without sending note data from the BeatStep? I don't mind reprogramming the sequences but would rather not have to...

Thanks!!!

Hi, you can do either.  program sequences on the bsp or boutique  or have bsp send start stop messages to the boutique sequencer

Thank you! I'm hoping it's not something I need to set up in the software since my ancient computeri s still running Vista hahahahaha. If not I think I have access to a computer I can use.

I guess I need to get with the future.....

Also, if I run the BSP into JP08 MIDI IN, then JP08 MIDI THRU to JU06 MIDI IN is there any issue with MIDI channel numbers or do I have to use a MIDI 1 in/2 out box?

The boutiques don't have midi thru . so you need a thru box . or do what i do is run them via usb midi.

If I do not want to sequence from the BSP, and just start/stop both Boutiques, is this possible without the THRU box for both?

Thanks for the info!

I only have one Boutique but if you set the clock source on the Boutique to auto it does start, stop, and play in time without receiving note data from the BSP.

I'm curious, you said you've already got Boutiques, and you just got a BeatStep Pro, why not just hook them up and try it?

No. The BSP only has one MIDI out and you need two to drive both MIDI INs.
