List of undocumented functions of Spark LE controller
« on: August 25, 2019, 11:56:52 am »
I recently started to dig into my Spark LE and found that many functions have been introduced since its inception, which greatly improve the interaction between the controller and the software. Unfortunately the current Spark manual is rather outdated, covering only Spark v2.1.0, while we are now at v2.4.0.
So, I wonder if anybody already collected a list of undocumented features (for example, Select + step 12 for Accent mode), which I could find here on the forum but not elsewhere. If not, I'm working on that for myself while learning how to use my Spark LE, and I'll be happy to share here (a sticky post would be optimal I guess).
Of course, best of all would be if Arturia updated the Spark manual, or at least added a document with updated / additional functions that have been implemented through the years...

Hi NOOU,

it seems Arturia is overstrained with this action and we don' t know the cause.
Can you share your knowlegde with us. What have you found out? Have you already
generate a list? I'm very interested in this…

Nice regards

Hi, this is what I've collected from various info around the web (not much honestly, yet some useful stuff):

Song mode:
Press in sequence and hold Bank/Patt/Seq/Tune -> The 4 buttons light up

Accent mode:
Select + step 12

Shuffle amount [since v.2.1.1]:
Select + Tempo

Step Shift and Repeat Shortcuts [since v.2.1.1]:
Hold a Step and turn Divide knob to set Repeat or turn Move knob to set Shift

Browse the various tabs
Select + 1-8
1 = Main
2 = Sequencer
3 = Song
4 = Studio
5 = Modular
6 = Mixer
7 = Library
8 = Prefs

Unquantized / quantized recording
Select + REC

Then some useful shortcuts for Spark / Spark LE

Right-click Shuffle knob [software]
Define the timing value on which the shuffle will be applied (1/8, 1/16, or 1/32 note)
Velocity emphasis on/off: increases the dynamic range between the shuffled notes and ‘fixed’ notes

Select + Global Filter/Slicer/Roller button
Switch Latch or Touch operation
NB the Roller effect is not active when Slicer is set to Latch mode

Global Filter button
Press repeatedly or hold and touch areas of the touchpad to switch 8 filter types (1 LP / 2 BP / 3 HP / 4 OB LP / 5 OB BP / 6 OB HP / 7 Multi-Mode 1 / 8 Multi-Mode 2)

Global Slicer button
Press repeatedly or hold and touch areas of the touchpad to switch 7 effect types (1 Repeat / 2 Tape / 3 Reverse / 4 Strobe / 5 Pan repeat / 6 Mix repeat / 7 Bit crusher)

"Sequencer follow mode" ON/OFF [ON: the LEDs turn blue]
Press together buttons [<<]  [>>]

Right-click Move knob [software]
Choose between "Switch by one step" and "Switch by one loop size"

To swap two patterns / banks
Click on a pattern number while holding [Ctrl] and then drag it on top of another pattern and drop it.

Feel free to suggest more stuff!

Hi!

This is beautyful! I saied "wow" 3 times at least, reading this :)

Do you know if there is a way to make a new pattern, extending its steps number without using the software? I mean, a new pattern is always 8 steps long, I want to extende it to 16, 24 or 32 using the controller..

>Thanks!

hey all!
I'd like to ask a question. I was working on a song, and the setings of an instrument changed somehow. I was playing a melody with the tune mode, was great I saved it. A few days later (today) I wanted to continue working on that, but these settings have lost. The tune mode plays only 1 note, though in the sequencer the different pitch levels are there, but spark isnt playing them as it used to do. Can anyone help me?

Hey! thanks for the reply. Doesn't the way you told me just shift the view inside a pattern? If my pattern is 16 steps long, I cannot use those buttons, because there are no 17-32/33/48/49/64 steps. I want to extend a new blank pattern from 16 to 64 steps.. How can I do?

Thanks!

Delete Button patterns in song mode?
Is there a delete button on the Spark LE - or maybe a combination of buttons. I've tried the erase button - no luck. That would have been the most logical
The delete button on my macbook pro doesn't do it by itself, you have to hold the fn key on the opposite side of the keyboard (2 hands).
This search also brought up a thought - is there a way to customize button functions, kind of like how you would use midi to map buttons to ableton functions.
