Is the patch bay foolproof?
« on: April 14, 2018, 05:08:00 pm »
hello,

I've just got my Minibrute 2, and I was wondering if the patch bay was designed in a way you can't damage anything by chance.

I know that on regular modular synth, if you connect something wrong, you can create a shortcut or use too high voltage and it could burn the component.

How is it done on the minibrute 2? Are there protections against this, for example if you connect two input together?

Hi Garvalf,

Every inputs and outputs on the patchbay are:
  - protected against shortcuts
  - protected against overvoltages
  - delivering a limited current

Within a regular use case, the MiniBrute2 and your other gears should be protected!

Edit: When I talk about "regular use case", I mean "don't patch your things in a wall socket or so" :)
When plugging Outs to Outs or Ins to Ins, the MiniBrute2 electronics won't burn, and MiniBrute 2 won't destroy your other gears

Hello O-li,

thanks a lot for your answer. I didn't intend to plug the patch into a wall socket or a nuclear plant, so it should be safe ;)
Now I'm happy to try all sorts of things in the patchbay (with regular use), without fearing to burn something!
