Killed the Brute with SysEx Firmware update
« on: January 18, 2017, 09:28:15 am »
I thought it was ok to reboot ... I had previously sent the SE's firmware to my regular microbrute and I've been having issues with the audio output. (Both headphones and Main Out).

I only get an audible signal from the Notch Filter.

So I figured ... I'll send the regular firmware back to the brute ... i guess i thought it was done and rebooted the power on it and now ... it's completely dead.

If anyone knows a fix, that would be awesome. Major facepalm here. :(

It's a mini and I tried booting it up by holding down the two octave buttons. the software still doesn't see it. :(

You can try the octave buttons procedure but with Connection software version 1.0.2

if it still doesn't work check if you computer can see, for example on windows, in the device manager panel

once fixed with 1.0.2 you should be able to update to 1.0.3 again

Ok, any idea as to why the synth only works in notch mode?

do you have a low pass in notch position ?
if so I think the filetr rotary selector has one of it's two contacts broken or oxidized.

I have the filter selection switch/knob in the notch position. All the other filter types do not work.

ok but does the filter work like LP when you are in notch position, or is it the normal notch?

I have the filter selection switch/knob in the notch position. All the other filter types do not work.

That sounds very suspiciously like the known faulty filter mode knob problem. Mine is definitely affected - it is currently bypassed and firmly soldered to lowpass. I'll have to replace the switch when I find the time to do so...

These switches do sometimes break (here's some info about one of the arpeggiator/sequencer knobs, including pictures).

Solution: Have the switch replaced.
