Idea to allow all the knobs to quickly be set to the preset called up.

Implementation would require NO hardware reforms, only a tiny software subroutine.

It is useful for knob positions to be at the setting of the resident preset. This allows planning of sound design through modification of the preset and is this is surely worth development.

Basically , make a mode available which when you  wiggle a knob, you can  look at the display which  will display a fraction.

The numerator would be the relative position of the knob for that patch  and the denominator would be the value of the maximum throw  for that knob eg.  5/10 would indicate that this knob in this patch would be half way round, wiggle another knob and it might display 8/10 which would indicate that for this patch this knob should be 80% of the way round for that patch.

 In this manner you could go round setting   all the knobs,  using the display to inform you of the patch knob position.   

An even simpler setting system could be to have a mode where the display would go from white to black when a knob was moved to the position it should be in for that patch.

In this manner you would not need to scrutinise any actual numbers , just a colour change of the e-paper display when the position had been matched.

Helping people set knobs at the resident preset position could be quite useful indeed.
Actually, a few ideas that were intended to serve that purpose were discussed during the development of the MatrixBrute, but so far none made it to the actual firmware.
In regard to the eInk display, it was meant to display static information, and would be too slow for such a use. I guess we could still use the matrix for displaying a huge light progress bar, but we might get epileptic people in trouble That leaves the preset screen, which might be of help, I reckon.

The led matrix would be an impressive output, but the white back lit LCD would suffice.

Programming a monophonic Teisco 110F in the mid 1980's was so rewarding  purely because of the knobs indicating the settings. It was easy to judge which parameter to tweak and the effect of the tweak on the sound.

Yes! As mentioned elsewhere, use the preset screen exactly as it is used for the master cutoff. Display a relative value, e.g. -99..+99, for continous parameters, with 0 indicating that you're at the preset value (or within a percentage of it). For discrete values, such as coarse tune, clock divisions for synced modules, use the actual relative range, e.g. +/-48 for coarse tune.

I have my MB since 2 days and I think it's a very cool synth. Sounds awesome. Nice Features...
But I also have the problem that I can't see the parameter values of the presets.
To see the values like the master cutoff knob is a great idea.
With my Korg SDD-3000 Delay Pedal I have the same problem but I can turn a knob and when the preset value arrives a dot lights up in the display.

I agree that this would help immensely with sound design and reverse engineering presets.  Please, please implement!

Hi guys, I will also get my MB soon, possibly next week! I fully support this idea. To increase the chances to get the feature implemented, I think Arturia should keep it as simple as possible. Like some other synths, simply turn on a display or parts of the matrix to show some clear sign when the knob being twisted is in the correct position. I propose either of the two methods:

1. Use the 7-segment preset number display to show any two clear symbols, like "PG"
2. Use part of the matrix display to show "PG", or light up sections of the matrix

If using the Matrix as the indicator, I agree with Tierry that it may not be a good idea to turn the whole matrix on, but instead maybe use smaller sections of it as an indicator, temporarily turning off all other matrix lights while reaching the correct knob amount. Here are some matrix modes that IMO could be useful for this purpose, and not too distracting:

Arturia added this feature in the latest firmware (1.1.0.73). Holding the preset button while turning a knob will display a +/- offset in the Preset display, and when you hit the preset value it shows "-P-".
