Basic Use Question - Creating and Copying Patterns in Spark
« on: November 15, 2011, 08:14:00 pm »
hi there. new user. still learning some spark basics. like saving and copying patterns. . .

the other night i create a new pattern using an existing kit. i created a pattern in A1.

by copying/dragging my A1 pattern to other locations, like A2, etc, up to A10 in this case, i modified and created a bunch of cool patterns for the song i'm working on.

i was hitting the save button on my mac. (command S) and was able to switch between patterns by selecting the different numbers on the spark controller. all good i thought.

today when i opened up spark it remember the name of my saved project from Load-User-Project name . . . but it only had one pattern, not the other 9 or so.

what did i do wrong and how can i do this right?

thanks!

any tutorials anywhere on how to create/save patterns etc?

also, i attempted to download the manual but it only seems to want to display it in a browser page, i couldn't seem to download it as a self standing pdf? is it me?

thanks again.

Hi,
unfortunately, the Command+S shortcut is not working on Spark.
You have to press the button save on Sparks toolbar.
In the upcoming update there will be a shortcut on the controller to save without using the mouse.

Concerning the manual, you can download the pdf here.

hi kevin. actually i did also save using the interface. when i copied a new pattern from one to the other, like A1 to A2 i got a dialog asking if i wanted to save this. i clicked yes and it seemed to work.

at the end of my working session i had 10 different patterns that all seemed to be saved because i could switch randomly between them and create an on the fly arrangement.

so it seemed the patterns were saved in one way. but when i shut down and started again the next day all the other patterns were gone.

is that clearer?

thank you.

Actually this is just a confirmation for the copy but not a saving dialog.
After you click yes the pattern is copied but the copy is not saved in the preset.
If you change the preset and come back you will lose your change.
You have to save your preset before closing or changing preset.
