MiniMg is too CPU intensive!
« on: April 03, 2004, 02:39:06 am »
   I just bought the MiniMg and I am running it on a G4 933 Mhz, OSX computer.  With some of the patches, I see that the CPU meter maxes out and this is even in standalone mode.  Is there anyone else with this problem.  I have my buffer size as high as I can get it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I'm thinking that I may need a G5 for these great sounding but heavy CPU synths.  Thanks

MiniMg is too CPU intensive!

I hope Arturia can confirm or deny this, but it seems MiniMg is the most CPU intensive, followed by CS-80v, then MMV... At least with my testing so far, I own both the MMV and CS-80v and using the MiniMg demo, way too CPU hungry for me I'm sorry to say.....

My Setup:
-AMD XP 1.7 ghz, 512 megs ram on Windows XP Home, ASUS Mobo
-Nvidia Geforce 4 video
-Tascam US-428 and SoundBlaster Live! audio
-40 gig 72000 RPM hard disk

Hi,

I have no problems.

I can hammer it like wild, always under 15% usage.

I run it always standalone as an instrument ( No Vst or something).

P4 2,8GHZ HT
512MB Dual channel Ram
M-Audio Audiophile 24/96

When I run MMV in Sonar 3.1.1 with a pad sound selected, playing a 4 note pad, get about 15% usage... if I switch soft clipping on, goes up to about 20-25%.

P4, 2.4 ghz
1 gig Ram
Frontier Designs Dakota 24 bit, 44.1khz

I have a 2.4 P4
768 meg of ram..Dell WS 350..

I hope that address this issue ASAP..

I agree that the MMV is greedy as hell. But use it as a Mono as the original and it aint quite as bad. There are better pad machines than the MMV and the Poly option is never really that interesting. The Korg MS20 is much better at doing pads from a vintage instrument without too much CPU use.
I don't really understand why the MMV uses more than the incredibly versatile CS80V. I reckon old R Mg must have insisted that the MMV  is absolutely close before he rubber stamped it. Or Arturia have been a little zealous in running code which has come about from the race to release it with GMedia.

Arturia, it would be nice to release the next version with a little less CPU hog.

cpu usage in miniMg

I agree it's a huge cpu hog.
even when It's loaded and no notes are played it uses half of my cpu.
I challenge Arturia to release an immediate patch to correct his serious problem.
